First Eucharist

The Faith Formation Office welcomes parents to participate in the sacramental preparation process for First Eucharist. We are pleased to support you as the “domestic church” and look forward to helping as you prepare your child/ren to receive this sacrament.

A child is eligible to prepare for Eucharist after he/she has prepared for Reconciliation.  The typical age for students to begin their preparation is 2nd grade.   A minimum of one full year’s attendance in Faith Formation, either in the Sunday program, family home study program, or one of the local Catholic Schools,
is required immediately previous to the year in which a student is accepted into a Sacramental Program. See this link for further information.

We are excited about our sacramental materials as they are family based which allow you, as the parent/guardian, to teach and share your experiences of the sacraments with your child. The process begins with a parent meeting where we will provide you with the texts for First Eucharist and answer any questions you may have. We are excited to offer two faith sharing sessions which are designed to supplement what is being taught at home; there is both a child and parent component of those evenings. In addition, we have a family retreat day and a teaching Mass, also designed for parent and child.  Most of the children will receive First Eucharist during the season of Easter.
