The Faith Formation Office assists parents in preparing their children for First Reconciliation. We are pleased to support you as the “domestic church” and look forward to helping as you prepare your child/ren to receive this sacrament. A child is eligible to begin the process of preparing for Reconciliation if they are in grade two or above. A minimum of one full year’s attendance in Faith Formation, either in the Sunday, Monday, Home Study, or one of the local Catholic Schools, is required immediately previous to the year in which a student is accepted into a Sacramental Program.
The process begins with a parent meeting where you will be provided with the texts for First Reconciliation and any questions you may have will be answered. We offer evening faith sessions and a family retreat day which support and supplement what is being taught at home. These events are for both parent and child/ren. The children are given an opportunity to receive First Reconciliation during a specially scheduled group celebration. In accordance with the
Catechism of the Catholic Church, children must be prepared to receive the sacrament of Reconciliation prior to their preparation for First Eucharist.
