High School Youth Ministry (HSYM)

“For where two or three are gathered together in my name,
there am I in the midst of them.”
– Matthew 18:20

My name is Meghan Sprankle and I am very excited to join the St. John the Evangelist community as the new Director of Youth Ministry.

Ministry, at its very core, is relational. We as humans were created as communal beings to be in relationship with God and one another. God revealed Himself completely and totally in the very Person of Jesus and came to us on our level. He taught, ate, traveled, suffered, and walked among us. Christ formed relationships with others to bring them to Himself.

This is my goal for youth ministry. In order to bring others to a relationship with God, we must first be willing to build those relationships in the first place. If there is anything I have learned from my experience and education, it is that ministry, especially with youth, is more than just a series of programs and events. It’s a life-long process; a journey. We must be willing to walk with one another and be companions on each others' journeys.

I am looking forward to building relationships through fellowship, Sacrament, service, and prayer. First and foremost, our youth group will meet Sunday nights from 6:30-8pm at least twice a month beginning September 25, 2016. If you have any questions, comments, suggestions, please do not hesitate to contact me at meghan.sprankle@stjohns-frederick.org
