History is filled with moments that changed the world—events like the Edict of Milan, the Declaration of Independence, or D-Day. But as we enter Holy Week, we’re reminded of something even greater: This is not just a moment that changed history…it changed eternity. Holy Week isn’t just another week on the calendar. It’s an invitation to walk with Jesus, to enter into His sacrifice, and to experience the life-changing reality of the Resurrection. From Holy Thursday and the gift of the Eucharist, to Good Friday and Christ’s sacrifice, to the joy of Easter Sunday—this is the story that opens the gates of Heaven and restores us as sons and daughters of God. The question is: Will we choose to make it holy?

Holy Week Changed Eternity | Jolt of Faith+| 3/26
History books and history, professors often, identify events as history changing. Things. like Constantine at the Edict of Milan making Christianity legal, things like the Declaration of Independence being signed or D-Day change the course of world history. But as we get ready, as Catholic Christians to enter into Holy Week, we celebrate not just something that changed the course of history, but changed the course of eternity. As we get ready during these most holy days to celebrate the Paschal mystery, the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, it not only changed history in the history book but it changed history for all eternity. Because through the Paschal mystery, the Gates of Heaven are open once again and we are restored to those beloved sons and daughters we were created to be. That’s why Holy Week is so important, but we have to choose to make it holy. Otherwise, it just comes another day on the calendar. So, walking with Jesus, through Holy Thursday, when he gives us the great gift of the Eucharist celebrating, the awesome gift of his death for us on Calvary, pouring out his blood for our salvation and in celebrating the Triumph and the joy of Easter Sunday, enter into Holy Week to make it holy. Enter into Holy Week so our hearts and lives can be changed. Enter into Holy Week so we too can experience firsthand how it has truly not only changed us, it changed our eternity as well. Not a sermon, not a homily, just a little Jolt of Faith and a reminder.
