Who We Are

The Knights of Columbus are Catholic men of faith and action, dedicated to serving our community and supporting our local parish.

We Knights of Columbus at St. John the Evangelist in Frederick comprise one of the oldest councils in Maryland. Founded in 1912, we are an award-winning council. We were awarded Star Council status most recently in the 2023-2024 fraternal year.

With around four dozen active members who regularly attend council meetings and participate in Knights’ activities, our council is small enough to form strong bonds of brotherhood, and large enough to undertake important service projects.

What We Do

We Knights raise money to support seminarians at Mount St. Mary, many of whom serve at our church, St. John. Our main fundraiser is the Lenten Fish Fry we operate for the pastorate, serving fish dinners to parishioners every Friday evening during Lent.

We raise additional money through raffles and our “tootsie roll” campaign, which we donate to several worthy charities. We’re about fellowship as well as service, getting together at barbecues, faith formation feasts, and other social events throughout the year.
