Almsgiving is one of the core disciplines of Lent — but it’s about more than just giving money. Yes, we should support the poor box and food pantries. But this week’s Lenten challenge goes deeper. What if almsgiving looked like small, intentional acts of kindness every single day?
In this video, you’ll discover 5 key ideas:
1️⃣ Why almsgiving is more than financial giving
2️⃣ How “random” acts of kindness can become intentional spiritual practice
3️⃣ The spiritual power of small gestures (a smile, a thank you, holding a door)
4️⃣ How kindness plants seeds that can truly impact someone’s life
5️⃣ A simple daily challenge to help you show the love of God in real, practical ways This Lent, don’t just go through the motions. Make it real — one act of kindness at a time.
Make Lent Real – Full Text
We all know one of the disciplines of Lent is almsgiving – acts of kindness to other people. And yeah, we should contribute more to the poor box, we should give to food pantries. All those things, which are great and we should be doing them. But this week, I want you to concentrate on those random acts of kindness – holding a door for a stranger saying thank you, smiling or say good morning to someone. we don’t even know. We all get caught up in our own little world in our own heads and in our to-do lists, and sometimes we interact with people without even realizing they’re there. But this week to really take the time and realize I need to reach out to strangers to be kind those little things. Those little seeds, those little grains of salt that we can drop of kindness and love and really make the difference in someone’s life. The challenge this week is not just to give to the poor but to make a difference in the life of someone else, one act of kindness each day to simply show the love of God, to someone may desperately need to be reminded of it.
