New Confirmation Age

Introduction to Confirmation lowered age:

Archbishop Lori has lowered the age of Confirmation within the Archdiocese to 4th grade, and in preparation, the Pastorate is currently running a pilot Confirmation program for a small group of 4th graders.

This coming year, we will be implementing the new age of confirmation into our Sacramental Preparation programs on a larger scale. In phase 1 for the 2025-2026 catechetical year, we will be confirming all students in High School, and eligible students who are in the 4th and 5th grade.

Immediate preparation for the sacrament of Confirmation will be different than what was done in the past, and the most notable change is that it is a family focused preparation process. Parents will have the opportunity to walk with their children as they prepare for Confirmation. We know that there will be many questions as we implement this change, and we ask for your prayers and patience as the formation team works to implement this change.

More information about all the changes will be available in April before the registration process
for the upcoming 2025-2026 catechetical year is opened.
