The month of June in the Church has always been dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. And it’s good to take a few moments to reflect on the power of the Sacred Heart as that source of love, that source of mercy that we all need in our lives because it was from Jesus’ heart where his love as God and man, both poured out to us not only in everyday life but especially on the cross when the lance pierced His side and blood and water flowed out which through baptism and through the Eucharist are those cleansing sacraments that continue to offer us His mercy and His forgiveness. During this month of June, we all should cultivate a greater devotion, to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Jesus’ heart burns with such intense love for us, that it’s like a forest fire. It needs to catch our cold hearts on fire as well. Because if Jesus’ heart burns for such fire with love, not only for all humanity but for me as a person and shouldn’t that challenge me and inspire me, to have a burning love for Him in my heart as well? I know the image of the Sacred Heart has been always one of my favorite images of Jesus, because it captures. And it reminds us that even though Jesus Is God, He’s our Savior, Miracle Worker, Redeemer all those other titles. At the end of the day, He loves us passionately. And with an intensity that burns within His very heart. May that fact, and may that reality challenge us to learn to love Him more in our lives as well. Not a sermon or a homily, but just a little Jolt of Faith.
